1.1 Definitions and Terms.
1.2 OHS procedures for a given work area are identified, obtained and understood.
1.3 Established OHS risk control measures and procedures are followed.
1.4 The extent of the project is established from design brief, specification and/or other relevant documentation and from discussions with appropriate person(s).
1.5 A date by which the estimate is to be completed is determined from design brief, specification and/or other relevant documentation and from discussions with appropriate person(s).
1.6 Activities are planned to meet scheduled timeframe in consultation with others involved in the work
2.1 Material take-offs are performed accurately and checked against job specifications.
2.2 Materials, labour and other costs are determined from industry standard labour rates, enterprise costing arrangements and /or material suppliers.
2.3 Sources and availability of materials and human resources needed for the project are established in accordance with organisation policies and procedures.
2.4 Estimates are checked and revised where necessary, for accuracy in costing and against job specification, in consultation with appropriate person(s).
2.5 Solutions to unplanned events are implemented consistent with enterprise policy.
3.1 Project estimates are documented in accordance with established policies and procedures.
3.2 Quotation is forwarded to appropriate person(s) for inclusion in a submission within the specified timeframe.
3.3 Quotation documentation is filed in accordance with established policies and procedures.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
The course consists of 3 Modules with exercises and theory tests for each module. You will be expected to complete and return all exercise’s and respond to the theory test questions within each module using the forms provided and submissions you are expected to create to determine your level of COMPETENCY.
GOOD ESTIMATOR ATTRIBUTES
An organised method of Take-Off
Ability to evaluate sub-contractor and supplier estimates in compliance with specifications
An understanding of architectural and schematic drawings
Ability to select sub-contractor and suppliers in compliance with schedules and Scope of Works
A defined process for obtaining Tender/Quotation status and feedback (Acceptance/Rejection)
At all times remain focused when entering estimated quantities and data without interruption. Total concentration is a basic requirement for accurate estimates. Do not permit any interruptions and set aside specific areas and times for Estimating.
